Shielding in Scotland extended to Friday 31 July

9 June 2020

What do you think about the update to Scottish shielding guidance?

The Scottish Government have announced that shielding advice in Scotland has been extended to 31 July 2020.

People who are shielding will continue to receive the support that they have been getting, including free weekly food boxes, access to priority supermarket delivery slots, pharmacy deliveries or other support provided by local authorities

The Scottish Government have also advised, that if infection rates are sufficiently low, they will revise the guidance for those shielding to allow for outdoor exercise from 18 June 2020. This will not apply to those living in nursing or residential care homes at this time.

A policy document, outlining Scotland’s possible route out of shielding, has been published by the Scottish Government and can be viewed here.

Genetic Alliance UK are in continued correspondence with Scottish Government with a view to informing future decision making regarding shielding so we need to hear your views.

The Scottish Government has asked Public Health Scotland to evaluate the shielding programme. This survey is part of that evaluation. The survey will help to learn more about people’s experience of shielding in Scotland and help inform next steps. The survey takes 15 minutes to complete and will be open until Sunday, June 14th 2020.
